Steven Costantino To Be Special Guest Honoree

PROVIDENCE, RI, September 7, 2012—The Federal Hill House Association (FHHA) will hold its 10th annual Taste of the Hill fundraiser on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Culinary Arts Museum at Johnson & Wales, Providence—a new venue for the popular event. Many of Federal Hill’s finest restaurants, caterers, and bakeries take part in the event. Steven Costantino, Secretary of the Executive Office of Health & Human Services, State of Rhode Island, is this year’s special guest honoree. Providence Monthly is the event’s print media sponsor.

Tickets are $40.00 in advance and $50.00 at the door. They can be purchased online by going to www.tasteofthehill.org or over the phone by calling Camela Russas at 401-421-4722 or e-mail her at crussas@federalhillhouse.org. FHHA is also looking for sponsors for the event.

“This year’s Taste of the Hill continues the year-long celebration of our 125th anniversary, which has as its theme our long legacy of service to the community,” says Nina Pande, FHHA’s executive director. “We are especially pleased this year to be honoring Steven Costantino, who represented our area so well in the House of Representatives. We’re also excited about having Providence Monthly as a major sponsor. As always, attendees at Taste of the Hill get a chance to taste samples from many of Federal Hill’s—and New England’s—finest restaurants, caterers, and bakeries.”

Taste of the Hill features music, a silent auction, art, pastries, fine food, and wine. Proceeds from the event help fund many of FHHA’s programs. Taste of the Hill has grown to become one of Southern New England’s premier food, wine, and art events.

This is the first time the event will be held at Johnson & Wales Culinary Arts Museum, which was founded in 1979 by Dr. Morris J.W. Gaebe, chancellor of Johnson & Wales University.

“We thought moving to the Culinary Arts Museum a natural fit for the event,” says Pande. “The museum is not only a great educational resource for students, chefs, faculty, and historians, but also for the community at large. It will serve as a great showcase for the restaurants taking part in Taste of the Hill. We’re excited about being there.”

The Federal Hill House Association is a Providence human services agency serving a diverse community and delivering a wide range of client-focused services. Founded in 1887, it was founded as a settlement house to help immigrants acclimate to the New World and assimilate into the community. Today, the Federal Hill House has evolved into a multi-ethnic, social service nonprofit agency offering services designed to improve quality of life of its constituents.
