#1 FINEST CAR WASH IN PROVIDENCE REACHES MILESTONE

October turns out to be a good-news month for 47-year old business, which recently teamed with Irving Oil

PROVIDENCE – In 47 years of doing business, Peter Montaquila Sr., owner of #1 Finest Car Wash, had never had a month like October 2008.

It was, simply put, his best month ever. The gas station sold 600,000 gallons of fuel during the month.

“Our story is the exact opposite of the kind of business story dominating the news for the past several weeks, and that’s why we wanted to tell people about it,” said Montaquila, who owns the business at 38 Pleasant Valley Road, Providence, together with his son Peter Jr.

“I can attribute that to three things:

One, we have a great organization that treats our customers fairly and honestly. Two, we recently signed with Irving Oil. And three, we now accept coupons from the Override gas-savings program. When you have that kind of edge, you’re going to come out on top.”

The Override gas-savings program was created in July 2007 as a way to help consumers lower their price of gas at the pump. Customers who shop at a participating Shaw’s Supermarket, and purchase at least $50 worth of groceries with their Shaw’s Rewards Card, can redeem their savings at # 1 Finest Car Wash.

The Montaquilas have seen as many as 130 coupons come through their business in a single day.

“What we are doing is offering our customers old-fashioned value for their dollar,” said Peter Montaquila Sr. “We have unparalleled commitment to customer service, we offer quality fuel products through Irving, and if they also shop at Shaw’s our customers can save real money at the pump.”

#1 Finest Car Wash is one of two dealers Irving Oil has partnered with in Rhode Island so far. The first dealer to fly the Irving banner in the state was the Irving Food Mart located at 155 Taunton Ave. in East Providence.

“Rhode Island has welcomed us with open arms, and we look forward to working with more dealers throughout the state in 2009,” said Harry Hadiaris, Director of Business to Consumer Operations for Irving. “We’re proud to be associated with the Montaquilas, and with the Sroczynski family in East Providence, and we send the word out that if anyone would like to partner with Irving Oil, please give us a call.”
