PROVIDENCE (October 1, 2012) – Rhode Island Housing has awarded a two-year contract to Homefront Health Care to provide home care at elderly housing complexes throughout the state.

Homefront, a Joint Commission accredited, nonprofit home health agency, will provide home health aides and homemaker services to approximately 150 elders living in 16 complexes through the two-year, $494,000 contract.

"This is part of Rhode Island Housings' program to assist residents to 'age in place'," explains Homefront President & CEO Bob Caffrey. "It is a partnership between Rhode Island Housing, development owners and the residents and is designed to fill the gaps left by other programs."

The services are paid for by the development owners and the residents, and are designed to allow the residents to live independently as long as possible. The facilities are located in Cumberland, Smithfield, North Smithfield, Wakefield, Portsmouth, Warwick, Providence, East Greenwich, Warwick, Cranston, Pawtucket and North Kingstown.

Established in 1966, Homefront specializes in the care of the chronically ill, including frail elders, adults with disabilities and children with special health care needs. Homefront provides high quality, comprehensive home health care through a team of nurses, therapists, CNAs, homemakers, social workers and companions. Offices in Providence, Woonsocket, Warwick, Glocester, East Providence and Westerly, enable Homefront to serve more than 1,500 clients each year in nearly every part of Rhode Island.
