Bristol, RI April 25, 2011– Bonnie Soper, Barrington Fitness Studio Personal Trainer and Seekonk Total Fitness Member, has organized the “Train-Your-Trainer” benefit for pediatric cancer. The event takes place between May 1-7, 2011 at 12 participating area health clubs and fitness studios. 100% of donations from this event will go directly to Cookies for Kids Cancer™ and the Emma Wheeler Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

During the week of May 1-7, for a donation of $10, members/clients of participating locations, will get the opportunity to tell a Personal Trainer to do one set of one exercise. Clients and members are welcome to bring friends and family to this week-long fundraising event.

“The Train-Your-Trainer Event is my way to honor my cousin Liam Witt, who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at the age of 2 1/2. Liam, aka ‘Prince Liam the Brave,’ succumbed to cancer this January at the age of 6. Ten year old Emma Wheeler is currently fighting Wilm's Tumor Cancer for the second time -- and the bottom line is that more research is needed to find more therapies to fight childhood cancers. It truly touches my heart that the Fitness Community is coming together to raise money and awareness for such a worthy cause.” Said Bonnie Soper, Personal Trainer, Barrington Fitness Studio.

“Emma Wheeler is the daughter of one of my clients – so I’ve witnessed firsthand the impact pediatric cancer has on a family. The Train-Your-Trainer event is a great opportunity to come out, kick the butt of your personal trainer and help fight pediatric cancer.” said Anne Marie Tschirch, Personal Trainer, Swansea Total Fitness.

About Cookies for Kids’ Cancer:

Cookies for Kids’ Cancer was founded in 2008 by Gretchen and Larry Witt, parents inspired by their son’s ongoing battle with pediatric cancer. The foundation, headquartered in New Jersey, started with a holiday cookie sale in 2007 which baked and sold 96,000 cookies with a team of more than 250 volunteers. The sale raised more than $400,000 in support of a promising pediatric cancer treatment and led to the founding of an organization that supports all types of pediatric cancer. Since the success of the first event, thousands of bake sales have been held across the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom. In addition to bake sales, gourmet cookies are offered year round with 100 percent of the profit going directly to pediatric cancer research. The organization operates with no overhead costs and directs every dollar raised to research. To learn more or get involved, visit www.cookiesforkidscancer.org.
