Local Business Referrals Group Nears $1 Million Year-End Goal

WARWICK, Rhode Island - As local BNI chapter called Money Makers nears its second year of existence, the 31-member group announced it has nearly reached the projected $1 million in closed business referrals by fiscal year-end on March 31. The current tally of referred business among chapter members is $718,749 since April 2011.

Within the first year, the Money Makers BNI chapter grew from 14 to 31 members and outgrew its original meeting place. The group now gathers at lunch on Tuesdays in Warwick.

On January 31, Money Makers is holding a “Double the Chapter Day” attracting new visitors to attend the free luncheon at Chelo’s on the Waterfront and learn how the group grows business for members on a weekly basis. The chapter is actively seeking to fill a number of professional services seats including electrician, payroll services professional, florist, landscape architect, alarm system specialist, chiropractic doctor, and acupuncturist.

Current members represent a variety of businesses throughout the region including, but not limited to, travel, financial services, sports nutrition/weight loss, branding, web design, public relations, real estate, mortgage origination, signage, printing, advertising specialties, bankcard services, plumbing, heating, business banking, insurance, radio advertising, computer consultancy, and legal services.

“We’re very eager to fill the open professional seats in our chapter,” said Jeff Elliott, president of BNI Money Makers and senior small business specialist for Sovereign Bank in Warwick. "The level of success experienced by our members is tremendous - as we grow the chapter, everyone benefits."

Only one person from each profession may join a chapter of BNI and all participants represent their primary occupation - resulting in a clear path to dedicated business referrals. The group grows as members bring in visitors from professions not yet represented in the group.

“The spirit and enthusiasm of this particular group is palpable as evidenced by our referral dollars,” said Dave Englund, vice president of Money Makers and owner of Englund Studio, a web design firm in Rhode Island. “On January 31, we’re looking to meet many new area professionals who will indeed be impressed with this chapter.”
